NCRA BEGINNINGS The
Northern Central Railcar Association (NCRA) started with a few local
track car owners who lived along the Northern Central in York County,
PA. In order to legally run the NC, they organized in 1994 to
provide communication between their members and both the operators of
the Northern Central Railway, Inc. and the County of York. Soon, these
track car owners began to clear the line of brush and trees. They
also involved themselves in community activities. They participate
in the annual Glen Rock Street Fair giving rides to children and parents
while coordinating with the Northern Central Excursion Train. When
participating in activities that include the general public, they
promote the Operation Lifesaver program and the history of the Northern
Central. As an affiliate of the North American Railcar Operators
Association, this small group began organizing meets on other railroad
properties. They include:
The NCRA is now reaching further into Pennsylvania and Maryland and down on the DelMarVa Peninsula to provide NARCOA's membership with a variety of track car meets. The Northern Central Railcar Association is a tax exempt 501c(3) organization incorporated in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. |
