MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION
(February 1, 2009 to January 31, 2010)
A 2009 membership in the NCRA entitles you to
participate in all excursions on the Northern Central Railroad and also
all excursions on the Stewartstown Railroad throughout the membership
period, (see dates above) without any additional charge. A 2009
membership also entitles you to vote at our regular monthly meetings. A
single-ride temporary membership entitles you to ride for that day only,
and does not include voting privileges. You must be a member, or
qualified spouse of a member to operate a railcar or hy-rail in any
excursion on the Northern Central Railroad and on the Stewartstown
Railroad.
MEMBERSHIP IN
THE NCRA IS NOT NECESSARY TO PARTICIPATE IN ANY OTHER SPEEDER
MEETS COORDINATED BY THE NCRA. You will receive ride offerings on these
other NCRA excursions regardless of your membership status.
PLEASE NOTE:
Although there will be several scheduled and advertised events on the
NCRR and the Stewartstown Railroad, most runs are set up a week or less
in advance and are not advertised. The NCRA has permission to ride both
railroads on any two weekends in each month. If you are interested in
riding on a given date, contact the President or Secretary a week in
advance to determine if other members are planning to run. Many times a
run can be set up if something wasn’t already planned.

OBTAINING
MEMBERSHIP
-
Complete the enclosed NCRA application.
- Submit a $60 non-refundable donation to the
Northern Central Railcar Association, which will be used as follows: $15
for operation of the NCRA, such as permits, printing, operator’s
certificates, paper, envelopes, postage, and $50 quarterly NARCOA
insurance certificates for each railroad to keep the NCRA on the rails
through January 31, 2010. $25 of each $60 is sent directly to “York
County Parks Rail Trail” for use of the NCRR and $20 of each $60 goes
toward our yearly fee for use of the Stewartstown Railroad.
- If
applying by mail, fill out the application showing your NARCOA
membership and insurance information and enclose a check to NCRA. If
applying in person, NARCOA membership and insurance cards must be
shown to the Secretary at time of application.
- Sign the 2 release forms: one releasing the
York County Rail Trail, NARCOA, and NCRA, and one releasing the
Stewartstown Railroad, NARCOA, and NCRA. (Anyone riding in your car will
also need to sign these releases before their first ride)
GENERAL RULES
AND INFORMATION
- Each 2009 member will receive an
Operator’s Permit Card after completing the above requirements.
- You must obey all NCRA & NARCOA
rules as well as the rules of the York County Rail Trail and the
Stewartstown Railroad.
- The York County Rail Trail, the
Stewartstown Railroad, NCRA, and NARCOA are not liable for any
actions undertaken by an operator or rider on the rails. YOU AND
YOUR RIDERS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR OWN ACTIONS AND ARE
EXPECTED TO DISPLAY GOOD JUDGEMENT.
- There will be a designated “run
coordinator” established before each run..
- All
runs must be coordinated through
the NCRA president. Person to person contact ONLY will be
acceptable. Leaving a message on an answering machine, or
sending an e-mail, is NOT verification of a run.
- The NCRA has the right to
restrict your privilege to ride the NCRR and Stewartstown Railroad
rails and may act at its own discretion within the ordinary
procedures of the Association. The NCRA is a democratic club and
operates generally under the Guild of Parliamentary Procedure.
- Railcar operators must be at the
set-on location at the designated time. Do not set-on until
instructed to do so. If you are late, and the other railcars have
left on the run, you may not set-on and run your car.
